Bob Harkins is a writer and editor with more than 20 years of experience in sports media. He got his start in the business at age 11, when he got a job delivering these things called newspapers. You may have heard of them. They were pretty neat, but were ultimately doomed by things like Craigslist, Facebook and the computer/tablet/smart phone you are reading this on — with a big assist from the industry’s own arrogance.
He’s designed and edited newspapers, written columns and blogs, managed a team of web editors covering the Olympics and produced numerous multimedia projects. He’s walked on the Rose Bowl turf during what became a national championship celebration, and he’s covered a high school softball double-header in the North Idaho rain while battling Pleurisy. It’s been a blast every step of the way — except for the Pleurisy.
